The news of his death was hushed up by the Kádár regime, only four days after the tragedy, the newspapers reported on him among the short news.

Exactly 50 years to the day, on April 30, 1974, Pál Szécsi died in his umpteenth suicide attempt. The communist regime - not surprisingly - also kept the news of the death of one of the country's most popular performers quiet, to be more precise, the singer had been dead for four days when, according to the instructions from the party house, Szécsi's tragedy could be published on May 4, hidden among the short news, writes the Mandiner in its article.

They were also instructed not to publish obituaries, it is enough if only the news of the death is published. For example, Népszabadság, which was published on May 4, carried the news of Pál Szécsi's death on page 8, and the text was the same in the other papers. Concise, unemotional:

"The dance singer Pál Szécsi died tragically suddenly at the age of 30."

Szécsi was not treated this way because he was an enemy of the system, this was the procedure when something happened that was unpleasant for the system. And it was quite unpleasant that the favorite of hundreds of thousands threw away his life.

Of course, by the time the news of Szécsi's death appeared on May 4, half the country already knew about it. Typically, the newspapers covered the time of Szécsi's funeral in the short news, in comparison the sad fans invaded the Farkasrét cemetery. People were literally trampling each other trying to get close to the farewell ceremony.

Pál Szécsi's life was accompanied by a series of tragedies.

His grandfather committed suicide by jumping from the New York palace, and his father was killed in World War II. during World War II. Little Pál Szécsi was one year old at the time.

Her mother raised her, but she defected to the United States in 1956, leaving her children in Budapest. He even took his eldest daughter with him to Vienna, but simply left her at the train station.

Already a celebrated singer, Pál Szécsi tried to contact his mother living in America, but she refused.

And the tragedies were not over. Szécsi's love, the actress Edit Domján, committed suicide in December 1972, which also took its toll on the already unstable singer. Pál Szécsi attempted suicide several times, and finally, exactly 50 years to the day, unfortunately, it was no longer possible to save his life. Karolina said nothing more...
