Sport is one of the strongest national unifying forces, a national cause that can bring Hungarians to a common wavelength.

On June 14, the Nemzeti Sportrádió will start broadcasting in Budapest and its reception area on the FM 105.9 frequency 24 hours a day, said the CEO of Duna Médiaszolgáltat Nonprofit Zrt. in an interview with Nemzeti Sport published on Thursday.

Anita Altorjai added: the Nemzeti Sportrádió will be available on the Internet sports websites of the public media and on the new application, including on the website of nemzetisport.hu.

The CEO recalled that a new chapter in the history of public media began in 2015: M4 Sport was launched with the aim of serving the needs of viewers and fans with the fullest possible offer. In 2020, M4 Sport+ joined the sports channel, and then public service content related to sports became available on the Internet.

In parallel with all this, in January 2022, radio sports broadcasting arrived at its famous station: Sportrádió was launched.

"The radio crew met a great challenge, and they deserve all the credit for starting to tread the untraveled path of sports radio broadcasting," he added. At the same time, the public service sports channels and Sportrádió operate in parallel, but the latter has a more difficult task, since the public service media owns the best of the broadcasting rights, he indicated.

According to Anita Altorjai, the ranks of the public media have been thinking for a long time about how to broaden and complete the sports range of the public service media.

"Our primary task is to ensure that sports-loving Hungarians can find out about all sports events that are important to them. At the same time, the goal is to not have to adapt to the specific time of the competitions either in time or space, that is, even at two in the morning you can listen to exciting events or sports-related conversations," he said.

Sport is one of the strongest national unifying forces, a national cause that has the potential to bring Hungarians to a common wavelength, the CEO emphasized.

"We happily celebrate the victories of the football team in the stands and in front of the TV sets, or next to the radios, just like the heroes of the Olympics and other world competitions: these experiences and successes give us an experience that will last for years, even a lifetime," he said, adding: we Hungarians , we have a lot to thank our athletes for, and as fans we regularly express our gratitude and love. It is not by chance that the Hungarians are ranked among the best fan bases in the world.

He said that for the public service media, not only the competitions of the 43 highly supported sports are important, but also the value-creating events of all the sports popular in our country, as well as the amateur, para- and youth sports that forge the community.

He explained that serving Hungarian sports fans abroad is a priority. There are international agreements that must be observed, but everything is being done to ensure that "Hungarians across the border have the same experience as the students here at the border".

Anita Altorjai said that the voice of the National Sports Radio will be the legendary sports reporter Zoltán Novotny.

This choice also indicates that they rely on their great predecessors, how they rely on the current employees of the public media, and on the excellent specialists of Sportrádió.

Former famous athletes-turned-journalists, such as Zsuzsa Csistu and Éva Ristov, will be invited to the National Sports Radio and they will discuss with the "cream of the sports industry", retired and currently active sportsmen, who will not only be invited for a one-on-one conversation, but their new, hitherto little-known faces would also show.

The program stream of the National Sports Radio starts with the Sport Morning, enriched with informative program recommendations and background information.

According to Altorjai's presentation, they offer many exciting new programs during the day, for example, using the archive materials of the Magyar Rádió, they recall the great moments of Hungarian sports, present the individual sports in magazine programs, and visit training camps and sports clubs.

Sportrádió's popular discussion program, Sportkör, will remain on the air, and the legendary Körszützung will return, but the reporters will report not only on football NB I matches, but also on current events in other sports.

The live reports are supplemented with interviews, background information, and chance searches. The hit list will be heard every weekend: our famous athletes are asked about their favorite music and reading, and they are also asked for program recommendations. The news of the M4 Sport sports news is also broadcast on the National Sports Radio.

Anita Altorjai also spoke about the fact that the timing of the start of the National Sports Radio is not a coincidence, as the continental championship begins on June 14 with the German-Scottish group match, which is also important for the Hungarian national team - and with the live registrations of the new channel.

"I'm a big fan of Marco Rossi, I have no doubts that the great march of the past period will continue at the European Championship. I hope that as many times as the national team plays, we celebrate as many times in the evenings together in the streets and squares, enthusiastically shouting "Let's go, Hungarians!" - he said, adding: this will also be the slogan of the National Sports Radio.
