The world-famous, Oscar-winning American actor traveled to Israel on a support visit.

On Sunday, Michael Douglas met with President Jichák Hercog in Jerusalem, who handed him the symbols of rescuing the hostages, the yellow badge and the military death tag necklace.

"We are going through a very difficult time. To feel the deeply shocking impact of what happened. We are happy to be here in support of Israel and to share with you that America is definitely its ally, as our president has told you. I just hope that the latest negotiations will be successful and that the hostages will return soon," the actor told Hercog, according to a statement from the president's office.

Douglas previously viewed Ziv Koren's photography exhibition titled October Seventh at the Peresz Peace and Innovation Center and met the families of the hostages taken to the Gaza Strip in the October terrorist attack.

The artist expressed his disappointment that the world was not able to see enough of the images of the October massacre, that they were not distributed immediately. He says this has led to a lack of information and prevented a response to protests against Israel.

He also visited Kibbutz Beeri, which is located next to the zone and experienced heavy fighting, where he talked with the members of the kibbutz.

"Here I met people who believed in peace. Those who hosted their Palestinian neighbors in their homes," he said about his experiences.

“Now I ask, how do you recover from something like this? It will take generations if there is any healing at all. How do you overcome the desire for revenge? I have no idea," said Michael Douglas.
