Competitors compete in ten sports at EYOF 2027: alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, snowboarding, biathlon, ski climbing, figure skating, short-track, ice hockey and curling.

At the press conference held on Friday, Spyros Capralos, the chairman of the committee, said that Brasó has already won the right to organize the EYOF for the second time, since he was also the organizer of the competition in 2013.

Since 2013, Brasov has had the necessary infrastructure to organize the international competition, but this is now being further developed and modernized with the support of the government, so that the 2027 EYOF can be held in the best conditions.

With a memorandum adopted on Thursday, the government approved the submission of Romania's bid to host the 2027 European Youth Winter Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Brasov. The international multisport game is the third most important event of the Olympic movement supported by the International Olympic Committee, which is organized by the European Olympic Committee every two years. According to the government's statement on Thursday, the EYOF, organized for the 14-18-year-old age group, makes young people like winter sports, and has a positive effect on tourism and the sustainable development of communities.

The estimated total budget of the event is 17.5 million euros, which covers expenses related to the creation and modernization of the sports infrastructure. It is financed by the support of the European Olympic Committee, the state budget, the budget of local governments, participation fees and sponsorships. According to the government announcement, competitors will compete in ten sports at EYOF 2027: alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, snowboarding, biathlon, ski climbing, figure skating, short-track, ice hockey and curling. The competitions would be held in Brasso, Brassópojána, Predeal, Barcarozsnyo, Gredistye-völgy, Csíkkarcfalva, Sepsiszentgyörgy and Csíkszereda.
