Viktor Orbán gave an impromptu interview after casting his vote in the XII. in a district constituency. True to tradition, the prime minister was accompanied to the voting by his wife, Anikó Lévai.
At the press conference following the vote, the prime minister revealed that he listened to Alexandra Szentkirályi, who asked for the support of Dávid Vitézy, but also expressed his opinion about the mandates he expected, the state of Hungarian democracy and the possibility of peace in Ukraine.
The Hungarian Prime Minister left the polling station and held an impromptu press conference. The press immediately asked which mayor candidate the prime minister cast his vote for, to which Viktor Orbán stated that he followed the advice of Alexandra Szentkirályi,
"I have four daughters and a wife, I have learned that it is best to do what the ladies advise".
The candidate for mayor, who was supported by the governing parties and then withdrew on Friday, asked his supporters to vote for Dávid Vitézy, and on the list ballot to vote for the Fidesz-KDNP list led by him, according to which the candidate of the LMP and the Association for Budapest with Dávid Vitézy could also receive the vote for the prime minister. . When asked whether the Prime Minister does not consider it incompatible with his plans that Dávid Vitézy is the candidate of the pro-war LMP, Viktor Orbán replied that
"but I voted for Fidesz on the issue of war, towards peace and against war".
Regarding the country's division along political fault lines, he said that he was not responsible for it, calling himself a man of peace. The country is not divided, the country is democratic. There are different opinions, this is what we wanted in 1990, so that there was not one opinion, but many. Well, now there are many opinions, they reach everyone, everyone can listen, everyone can consider, and then vote.
The hate you think of may not be the same as division, it's not a nice thing
said Viktor Orbán. The Prime Minister stated that he would not be happy if they won fewer mandates than in the previous elections, he would be satisfied with 21.
According to the Prime Minister, peace in Ukraine can be achieved in two steps, on the one hand, the elections in Europe must be won on Sunday. "This is the first European election in my life when I see that there is a theme that runs through almost all of the member states, I followed the French, German and Italian election campaigns, they all talk about the war, so this is a pan-European issue, so I think it is justified we will interpret the election result in the evening as the European people were able to express their opinion on war and peace," he said. This is one half of the job, the other half will have to be done by the American "peace-loving" people in the US presidential election. He sees that there is a military threat in Europe because the great powers want to go to war. "We bring the threat on ourselves," he said.
The matter of the battery factories and Péter Magyar were also discussed
Regarding the battery factories, Viktor Orbán said that he would expect "that the environmental protection rules that are applied in Germany are also applied in Hungary" and that the conditions for a healthy life are guaranteed for him. According to the Prime Minister, it is the job of the state authorities to do this.
They also asked the prime minister whether he followed Péter Magyar's campaign. The Prime Minister said that "I could hardly follow my own". He is very happy that people are expected to participate in the EP elections in larger numbers than before, and this is good for Hungarian democracy.
He is not resting today, he is also campaigning on the last day
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, the president of Fidesz, continued his election campaign tour on Sunday, Bertalan Havasi, the prime minister's press chief, informed MTI.
