The exact opposite of what Gergely Karácsony got involved in happened. Let's see!
Gergely Karácsony did not start any major development in the last 5 years, what he handed over was also started by his predecessors - only Karácsony implemented it later, more shoddily and more expensively... What Karácsony started, however, only turned into trouble.
Huge traffic jams and traffic chaos, accident-prone bicycle paths, 3,000 dismantled garbage cans and floods of garbage on the street, dirty public areas, masses of uncared-for homeless people on the street, a sea of weeds mocked as beehives instead of greenery... It didn't turn out well if the "bankrupt mayor" touched anything, at least in the past The 4.5 year balance sheet shows this.
This is how Gergely Karácsony "saves": he dismantled 3,000 bins
In Christmas 2019, he made such resounding promises as organizing the collection of glass waste, improving the management of hazardous and organic waste, and taking action against the use of single-use waste in commercial chains. Do you think something happened? The mayor rather excelled in the fact that he dismantled 3,000 public trash cans in the name of "savings", and the streets have been dirty and littered ever since. The left-wing district mayors themselves started protesting and began to put back bins bit by bit...
Air pollution has increased due to the gigaplugs of the kamuzöld mayor
Gergely Karácsony is a master of illogical traffic order changes, road closures and the generation of giga traffic jams. The chaotic, ill-conceived, imaginatively painted bike lanes cause congestion everywhere in the city, after the introduction of the Üllői and Váci út lanes, air pollution in Budapest has increased, as Metropol wrote. Practically half of Budapest is stuck in train lines every day. In the meantime, Karácsony was repeatedly arrested for driving his company car illegally in the bus lane instead of driving on the roads. He thought: he might…
Billions, a bucket of yellow paint and dangerous bike paths
Karácsony's favorite self-realization is the bicycle image: a couple of buckets of paint is enough, especially if one has no urban development concept... However, the mayor only annoyed pedestrians and motorists with the yellow paint and the "Gerikarós". With the bicycle stations and changes to traffic regulations, the mayor referred to the cleanliness of the air, but he achieved the exact opposite, there are traffic jams on every road, so smog and noise pollution have increased in Budapest. The symbol of Christmas: the 6-meter bike path that leads from nowhere to nowhere
It could be a symbol of Gergely Karácsony's city management in the 15th century. district, in Rákospalota, this is a completely unnecessary, six-meter bike path. The employees of Metropol made sure with their own eyes that it does not lead from anywhere to anywhere - but at the end they carefully painted the road sign "giving way is mandatory", that's for sure. The "investment" of Christmas blew the fuse among the locals.
The Metropol said that this cycle path is completely unnecessary. According to them, the Rákos road should be re-asphalted with this money, as it is in a terrible condition in many places. At the intersection of the busy Dugonics street, a bicycle storage facility has been created, which is right next to the car lane...
The "exemplary public toilet" was closed for half a year - then it became a prostitution and drug center
The toilet reality show of the left has become an exemplary failure, it shows that everything that Karácsony gets involved in backfires. Either the expensive public toilet in Blaha Lujza tér, where Karácsony proudly took selfies, is inoperable, or it is used by drug addicts and prostitutes. The II. The "Exemplary" toilet on Pope János Pál Square was also built with a budget of 50 million, and I'm glad that it didn't work for half a year. The whole case started out problematic, as the locals didn't want it. The continuation is also astonishing: the work was preceded by the cutting of a huge tree, and then the building was erected in two days. However, only then did the workers start looking for water and electricity, which caused the neighborhood to be disturbed for months. Although it is open today, according to the locals, young people walk in by the fivers to do drugs, while the illuminated homeless people pee on the side of the building.
Neglected, accident-prone playgrounds
Since Karácsony did not deal with the care and maintenance of public areas, many districts - including those led by the left - did the work instead. The IX. district green areas, for example, were mowed much later because the people of Ferencváros started with the capital area, while no additional labor was hired for the task. The inner city was the most spectacular, taking over many spaces from the capital, which neglected them to the extreme. Hild tér, among others, was renewed in this way, where today Kufi figures await the children, and like all other downtown squares, the blue and green approach prevails here, which Camuszöld Karácsony could have really taken an example from.
Disastrous model projects for the homeless: the lives of "normal" tenants have become hell
The "bankrupt mayor" helped some homeless people by making life hell for other paying tenants. Without consulting them, he placed homeless people among others in apartment buildings or retirement homes. From then on, disorderly conduct, defecating in stairwells, drinking, and practically ineradicable bed bugs appeared in the properties. The horror house on Kőbányai út has had everything since then: murder, apartment fires, drug addicts in the stairwells, robberies, children chased with knives... Paying tenants were rightly relieved almost everywhere, it was in their hopelessness that they turned to Metropol.
The furniture was hauled out because of bed bugs
In Újpest, they fought with bed bugs in the Retirement Home, where Aunt Márta has lived since 2001. According to him, the place used to be an island of peace, tranquility and security.
"This is not a social home here, we paid a large, one-time sum for the rental property when we moved in. We are self-sustaining, we take care of utilities and everything else ourselves. However, three homeless families were moved into the building, one of which is problematic: the outbreak is in their apartment. Now we're at the point where this one couple is destroying the lives of 26 other people."
Aunt Márti told us then, adding: "We know from hearsay that there were similar problems in the other eight Retirement Houses as well. This confirms that our problem is not accidental, but legitimate. In Hungarian, the direction – the project vision of the Metropolitan Municipality – is wrong" .
The greening area is a sea of gas and a toadstool field, which has been renamed a bee pasture
Gergely Karácsony did not plant the 15,000 trees per year, nor did the worthwhile greening in the last 4.5 years, who also promised before his election to create Budapest's largest green zone from Margitsziget to the Rómaiparti and establish a new park in Eszák-Csepel, and in Ferencváros. The mayor only got so far as to establish man-high weeds and tochle fields in most open public areas, which caused many dog owners to complain for years. Due to the unprofessional care of the grounds and the long-term neglect of the green spaces, many gardeners came to Metropol to draw the attention of Budapest residents to the fact that Gergely Karácsony has been destroying the capital's green spaces for years.
