This year, Utazó magazine also announced its traditional public vote awarding the best tourism service providers of the past year.

The award ceremony, attended by János Árpád Potápi, State Secretary for National Policy, and Tamás Flesch, President of the Association of Hungarian Hotels and Restaurants, was hosted by the Continental Hotel Budapest on June 12.

Among the winners from across the border is a restaurant from Maros County, namely Kicsi Gomba in Szováta, which won the Transylvanian Hungarian Restaurant of the Year award.

János Árpád Potápi, the Prime Minister's State Secretary responsible for national policy, emphasized at the award ceremony that tourism is a strong driving force of the national economy, in which there was a breaking point, but it has largely been overcome.

The state secretary believed that the performance of the sector will be exceptionally good this year, which will also affect those who work in travel, provide accommodation or run restaurants.

Tourism service providers operating in Hungary and the Carpathian Basin are also among the awardees - explained János Árpád Potápi, who expressed his joy that they can strengthen national unity from this point of view as well.

Tamás Flesch, the president of the Association of Hungarian Hotels and Restaurants (MSZÉSZ), said that each awardee excels in something, so it is worth learning from them.

He was optimistic about the development of the season, mainly in Budapest, among other reasons, because the Hungarian airport already achieved higher traffic in the first quarter than in the peak period before Covid. If nothing unexpected happens in our lives, the number of foreign guest nights could topple the peak of 2019, said the specialist.
