The Oscar-, Golden Globe- and Emmy-winning Canadian actor was 88 years old.
Donald Sutherland died on Thursday at the age of 88 in Miami after a long illness. The news of his death was announced on social media by the actor's son, Kiefer Sutherland, who also started acting.
He made his big screen debut in 1964 in the Italian horror film Castle of the Living Dead. However, his role as Hawkeye Pierce in Robert Altman's film MASH, in which he and Elliott Gould made a ferocious pair, brought him world fame.
During his six-decade film career, he appeared in more than 200 films and television series, such as The Dirty Twelve, The Hunger Games, Klute, Kelly's Heroes, and Average Men, which was awarded four Oscars.
In recognition of his career, he received an Oscar Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017. He won an Emmy Award and received two Golden Globe Awards.
