I've been waiting for this goal since my son started playing football - said Kevin Csoboth's father, Róbert Csoboth, after the incredible victory against the Scots.
"He has been playing since he was five years old, and I think that this goal crowned all the management and support we tried to help him with from the beginning. That's why it was worth nineteen years of work for tonight. We are very proud," added the happy father after Kevin Csoboth scored the winning goal in the 100th minute of the European Football Championship.
And what did the author of the winning goal say to his parents who were cheering from home after the game?
"We were there in the stadium for the first two matches, but we didn't go out for the third match out of superstition, because he scored the goal of the week in Újpest this season when we weren't there for his matches.
After the blow, he was very reserved, probably still in shock, and he didn't understand everything that happened either. He called me and just asked: "Dad, are you happy?" His mother and I looked at each other and we cried," said the father about what Kevin told them.
"When he hit the post on his first chance, I couldn't believe he didn't have a bit of luck. In the past, situations like this, when he missed a goal-scoring opportunity, broke him mentally. Now, however, he continued as if nothing had happened and was able to remain calm at the goal.
It's unbelievable that now they could enjoy a goal together with Dominik Szoboszlai, already in the national team, as they did ten years ago in Phoenix
(Kevin Csoboth was a soccer player for Főnix in one season, in the 2014-2015 season, he played in the U15 league at that time, scoring 37 goals in 24 championships - ed.).
It is also unbelievable that he has reached this point after playing in the NB II Szeged as a loan player from Fehérvár two years ago. It was a very good decision for him to sign for Újpest, where he received the trust and patience from everyone, including the fans, and the same is the case with the national team, and just like in Újpest, now also in the national team he was able to thank the fans somewhat with this goal .”
Not incidentally, Kevin Csoboth turned 24 a few days ago, on June 20, so we can also say that he surprised himself on the occasion of his birthday with this goal, which, by the way, was his first goal in his 10th game for the national team.
