The bird is 22 years old.
In 2003, it was marked as a nestling in Győr-Gyirmót and is currently raising 5 nestlings in a nest in Rábapatona, the oldest nesting white stork in Hungary. Interestingly, it was read only once in the same place, in 2006, but it has not been found since then.
The egg-laying bird was read at the freshman ring on June 19 in the presence of more than 200 kindergarten and junior high school students.
Although this is not the oldest white stork (Ciconia ciconia) in the Hungarian bird ringing data bank, it is proven to be the absolute correct order among birds breeding in Hungary. Overall, it is the 2nd oldest bird that has been circumnavigated in Turkey.
According to the EURING (European Union for Bird Ringing) database, the oldest ringed white stork lived for 39 years in Switzerland.
