Kremlin spokesman Dmitriy Peskov did not hold back when asked about the US missile deployment.
European countries would put themselves in danger if they accepted the deployment of long-range missiles by the United States, Peskov said in a video published on Saturday.
Reuters wrote that when Pavel Zarubin, a reporter for Russian state TV, asked Peskov whether the United States could deploy hypersonic missiles in Europe, the spokesman replied:
"We have enough potential to deter these missiles. The capitals of these (European) states are potential victims."
Peskov noted that during the Cold War, American missiles stationed in Europe were aimed at Russia, while Russian missiles were aimed at Europe, so countries on the continent were the main victims of any potential conflict.
He added: “Europe is falling apart now. This is not the best time for Europe. Therefore, one way or another, history will repeat itself.”
