As expected, the American Republican Party's convention in Milwaukee officially chose Donald Trump as its presidential candidate on Monday. The presidential candidate then also announced that he would nominate Ohio Senator JD Vance as his running mate.

In the event hall, the delegates surrounded by banners reading "Make America Great Again" burst into cheers as the delegates from the member states took turns supporting Trump to run again in the party's colors in the November presidential election.

In a statement published on the former president's Truth Social page, the

39-year-old James David (JD) Vance named Ohio Senator as his running mate, who has gone from one of Trump's sharpest critics to one of his staunchest defenders.

Donald Trump wrote that Vance is the most suitable vice presidential candidate, and during the election campaign he will focus on winning workers and farmers in the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio and Minnesota, among others.

Current US President Joe Biden's campaign team sharply criticized Vance's nomination, among other things, believing that he would carry out "Trump's extreme political plans, regardless of the harm caused to the American people".
