Migrants occupied several cities, including Zombor, Subotica and Nagykikinda.

By the middle of August, the Hungarian authorities had taken action against almost 150,000 migrants, which is much more than in the whole of last year. And the further prospects are not encouraging either, because according to Frontex data, the migration situation has worsened on almost all migration routes to Europe. The most serious problem is in the Western Balkans, where the number of illegal border crossings tripled compared to the same period last year, M1 News reported.

Untenable conditions prevail in Vojvodina. Migrants occupied several cities, including Zombor, Subotica and Nagykikinda.

The strangers walk the streets in large groups, because of them there are no free benches in the squares and in the parks they rest on the grass by the dozen.

" They lie here in front of our door, they eat here, and they throw the garbage and leave it here. They steal the crops, they insult us. The situation is unbearable. Everyone is afraid of them, " complained a local woman.

Locals don't even sit in restaurants anymore because illegal immigrants have fun there. Meanwhile, women are harassed. The Zomborians talked about how

children have not been allowed anywhere alone for a long time, but now the situation is so serious that even adults are reluctant to go out after dark.

" There are a lot of migrants and more and more crowds are coming every day. They break shop windows, attack us, fight with knives, and constantly fight in the reception center. It's scary, " one woman said in frustration.

As soon as they arrive, the majority of men in their twenties from the Middle East immediately contact the traffickers. And the criminals' tariffs are increasing every day, they ask for thousands of euros for a trip, and it is not certain that they will not disappear after the payment.

" We bought a SIM card in our phone because we get the instructions on it. They tell us when to leave for the border. They check whether the money sent from home has arrived. After that, they help you cross the fence, " said a Syrian immigrant.

Migrants want to go to Western Europe because, as they say, life is much better there and they also receive subsidies.

" We are planning to leave for Germany, Italy or France via Hungary in three days. I heard that the Hungarian border is strongly protected, but we will still try, " said an Afghan migrant.

At the Hungarian border, immigrants often violently attack the police, soldiers and each other. The crisis is exacerbated by the fact that human traffickers also use sharp firearms to protect their territory.

In one week, the Hungarian authorities had to take action against more than 6,600 migrants, which is much more than at this time last year, and the annual data also shows a multiple increase, as this year the Hungarian authorities took action against almost 150,000 migrants.

The reception center in Szatka is overcrowded: the locals do not feel safe

Migration pressure is not easing in Subotica. The local reception center is overcrowded, and migrants are still taken by taxi to the Makkhetes district, which is famous for shootings between migrants. The locals do not feel safe - György Mészáros, a public media correspondent, reported to M1 News from the scene.

Since the first armed showdown between migrants took place at the beginning of June, the taxi drivers have changed their route and are now transporting the migrants to another part of the forest, said the correspondent, who also revealed that during the day, off camera, they managed to talk to the taxi drivers , and they said that you should not go filming at this time, but in the evening hours.

The correspondent also said that there are a lot of migrants in the Makkhetes forest, and the locals are very afraid, and everyone is afraid that there may be another showdown between migrants.

After 6:00 p.m., not only are children not allowed on the street, but adults also close the gates and doors, the correspondent added.

The strengthening of the southern border section has begun

That is why the strengthening of the 165-kilometer long security border barrier on the Hungarian-Serbian border recently began, which is planned to be completed in six months.

Meanwhile, border hunters are being recruited and trained across the country. The police will continue to travel the country next week to inform interested parties and accept applications. The recruitment locations are available on the police website.

Border hunters receive a salary of HUF 300,000 during the one-month training, and successful candidates can earn almost HUF 400,000 in addition to allowances.

Strengthening the Hungarian border protection is essential, because according to the forecasts, migration pressure will not only decrease, but also increase in the coming months. According to the latest data from Frontex, the number of illegal immigrants on almost all migration routes to Europe will increase compared to 2021, for example, the number of illegal border crossings in the Balkans was three times as high as last year.
