The former president of the European Council, Donald Tusk, is suspected of exceeding his powers as prime minister due to a 2014 case, as a result of which coal industry companies would have gained an advantage. The investigation does not bode well for his party, the Civic Platform, which is preparing for the elections.

The former Polish Prime Minister and former President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, was investigated by the Polish Prosecutor's Office due to a case in 2014.

Tusk, who also appeared at the campaign closing event of the Hungarian opposition in March last year - and who openly supports the left - can be suspected of exceeding his powers as prime minister.

as a result of which certain coal distribution companies could gain an advantage. Marek Falenta, who has an interest in the company involved in the case, told Gazeta Wyborcza:

in ministerial circles, they wanted to persuade him to sell his business, but he "didn't stand up to the ropes", so the Polish secret service showed up at his company, and the management was taken into custody.

Falenta initiated a private prosecution against Donald Tusk and filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office.

Since elections will be held in Poland in half a year, the case could be extremely unpleasant for his party, the liberal-conservative Civic Platform, as well as for Donald Tusk. The former president of the European Council does not have to appear in person at the trial, but the authorities will interrogate him, reports the Polish weekly Polityka.
