In some family support procedures, fewer documents have to be submitted than before, and the mandatory proof of student status is no longer required. More than a hundred thousand parents are affected by the facilitation of the GYED and family allowance application.

The government is further simplifying and speeding up the administration of individual family allowances - the proposals to amend the law aimed at this were submitted to the Parliament on Wednesday by the Prime Minister's Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM).

KIM wrote in its statement on Wednesday: if the amendments are accepted by the Parliament, then fewer documents will have to be submitted in some family support procedures than before, in addition, the mandatory proof of student status will no longer be required, so parents will not have to obtain a proof of this, with a few exceptions. .

They emphasized that since 2010, the government's priority goal has been to support childbearing and child rearing, to strengthen families, for which it has created and operates a broad and stable family support system. Today, more than 30 measures are available for families that provide tangible help in everyday life. The way they are used is reviewed by the government every year in order to ensure that Hungarian families can use them with even fewer administrative obligations than before.

According to the information, according to the current amendment proposals

among other things, the mandatory verification of the pupil/student status is no longer required. Apart from a few exceptional cases, from September 1, 2023, proof of student status cannot be requested from the parent or the student during the period of compulsory schooling, until the end of the school year in which the student turns sixteen. After the end of compulsory education, the student can prove his/her legal relationship as a student/student with a valid student ID until the end of the legal relationship as a student in higher education

explained the ministry.

The ministry also mentioned that

the draft contains procedural simplifications for parents who were entitled to a child care fee (GYED) for their child. In their case, from July 1, 2024, after the termination of the entitlement to the child care fee, the child care support benefit (GYES) will be determined automatically. With this, more than a hundred thousand insured parents are exempted from the obligation to submit an application.

According to the proposal, in the future, one of the separated parents will be able to submit a request for a 50-50 division of the family allowance. Another change is that the biological father can also become entitled to maternity support, thereby claiming maternity support in the event that the mother dies before the application and the father takes care of the child
