There could be another assassination attempt against Donald Trump.

The Secret Service

because of the threat from Iran, it already strengthened the protection of former President Donald Trump before Saturday's assassination attempt

two US officials said on Tuesday. Officials reported that as soon as US President Joe Biden's administration became aware of the threat, they informed senior Secret Service officials who protect current and former presidents, the agent leading Trump's bodyguard, and the former president's campaign team, mobilizing additional resources to protect Trump.

"As we've said repeatedly, we've been tracking Iranian threats against former Trump administration officials for years, dating back to the last administration," said Adrienne Watson, secretary of the National Security Council in Washington. “These are the threats

They stem from Iran's desire to avenge the killing of Qassem Soleimani.

We view this as a matter of national security and homeland security of the highest order," Watson added.

On Trump's orders, Kassem Suleimani, the late leader of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, was killed in a US drone strike in Baghdad in 2020. At the same time, Watson emphasized that, for now, they do not see a connection between the Iranian threat and what happened at the campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a 20-year-old man shot at Trump. "So far, law enforcement agencies have reported that

no connection was found between the assailant and the foreign or domestic accomplice or accomplice"

he underlined.

The assailant fired several shots at the former president, who was only lightly wounded, his right ear was scratched by a bullet. Another person was killed in the attack, and two others were critically injured. The authorities killed the attacker on the spot.

Iran categorically rejected the accusations of the US authorities, calling them baseless and malicious.

Tehran's UN mission emphasized that they want to hold Trump accountable by legal means for ordering the death of an Iranian general.
