An innovative cleaning robot won this year's award for the idea of the year at the awarding ceremony of the Hungarian Industrial Target Grand Prix.

The best of the profession gathered at the Millennium House at the award ceremony of the Mechanics' Salon held for the fourth time at the end of June. The most outstanding projects of the past year were honored in a total of eight categories and three special prizes were awarded by the jury, including Irén Csikós, who designed an innovative cleaning robot to solve the problem of cleaning the dusty conveyor belts of a chemical plant, and the BBM team, who won the competition with an outstanding industrial purpose machine. it was administered with music edited with the help of intelligence. Irén Csikós is currently a maintenance engineer at Henkel Magyarország Operations Kft., but previously also worked as a design engineer.

The cleaning robot he designed was awarded the Hungarian Industrial Target Grand Prix, Idea of the Year 2024.

"In my current job, planning is not my task, but it still happens that I plan and solve certain tasks myself. It was also such a challenge to clean overhead equipment. We work in a chemical plant where cleanliness is key. Some of our production support equipment, which comes into contact with the product, is located high overhead, however contamination with dust often occurs, and cleaning is a mandatory part of the technology."

Previously, the cleaning of these systems could only be solved by human power, which is a higher-risk, time-consuming and less efficient work process.

"The demand for mechanization arose from the department responsible for occupational safety. The brainstorming started, and finally we managed to find a solution, the equipment I designed is a small fully automated robot that can be controlled by remote control"

Irén Csikós recalled the development process.

Irén told the Salon that he drew outside of his working hours, acquired the components of the first machine one by one, and built it without regretting overtime with the help of a small team of technicians. The first attempt did not live up to expectations, but he did not give up and experimented with a different material that was lighter and enabled more reliable operation. The purpose of the cleaning robot is to completely replace manual labor, the robot is already working, but the equipment still needs to be refined and its further development is in progress.

"The special feature of the robot lies in the fact that there is currently no other available technical solution for this cleaning problem"

- added the Henkel employee.

Young talents are revolutionizing the world of industrial target machines

This year, 121 entries were received for the Target Target of the Year award, surpassing last year's applications. In addition to the main categories, the idea of the year, the eco-target target of the year and the designer of the year were also awarded. Sándor Sipos, the creator of the Magyar Ipari Célgép Grand Prix, emphasized that the competition provides applicants with the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity, technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. The owner of Chemplex Kft. called it important to support young talents, to present and celebrate their talents, for which this competition provides an opportunity.

Everyone wins with the Grand Prize, even those who won't be awarded; the participants build relationships, learn from each other, form friendships, create synergies and move forward into the future with professional relationships.

"The design and production of industrial target machines present extraordinary challenges, in addition to specialist knowledge, broader knowledge and a great deal of creativity are needed, and only the best can meet these requirements.
The purpose of the competition is not only to find the most talented engineers, but also to encourage continuous development and innovation. During competitions like this, the ideas and solutions that are essential for our profession to continue to be recognized and flourish, so that the domestic machine manufacturer can be the source of the large companies operating here, can be presented. The jury met amazingly talented young people who proved that it is possible to step out of the comfort zone in such a way that they meet the criteria in all respects. Where else would we evaluate these form-breaking solutions than where we research innovations?" said Sándor Sipos.

AI wrote the music for their application

"If you need a target device, contact BBM, they will help you"

- says the refrain in the background music of the BBM Engineering Solutions Zrt. The company's automatic screen printing production line received the Target Machine of the Year award, in the category of complete production lines, plant and small plant technologies.

Gergő Bővíz Botond and his colleagues submitted an unusual musical application, the content of which clearly stood out from the field, and the form of which also impressed the members of the jury.

"The colleagues edited the song with the help of artificial intelligence, which everyone liked so much that we decided to include it in our tender," revealed the company's CEO.

"With the whole material, we wanted to demonstrate that although the company is young, its professional veterans also work for us, we are always open to new things, and the team is extremely creative."

The award-winning project of BBM Engineering Solutions Zrt. covers a complex production line, which integrated the solutions offered by a Japanese multinational company present in our country.

"We trust that the award will give us the opportunity for more people to get to know us, to see that there is a Budapest company here, a strong team, and we trust that more and more businesses will be able to work with us in the future"

– emphasized Gergő Bővíz Botond.

The jury of the Hungarian Industrial Target Grand Prix 2024 was made up of university professors and industry representatives, the best were selected by professional managers of companies such as Schneider Electric, Bosch Rexroth, RWH, Hafner Pneumatika and Eurpsolid Zrt. The jury divided the after examining the entries and their innovative content, complexity, mechanical implementation, profitability and sustainability, the most prestigious award of domestic industry professionals, the "Target Aircraft of the Year 2024" awards, was awarded.
