The Vice President of the United States is running for President.
In her first public statement since President Biden's announcement, Vice President Kamala Harris said she is "honored" to endorse President Joe Biden and intends to "earn and win" the Democratic presidential nomination, CNN reported.
“I am honored to have the support of the president and I intend to earn and win the nomination,” he said.
The statement was issued by the Biden-Harris campaign, not the White House.
"I will do everything I can to unite the Democratic Party — and unite our nation — to defeat Donald Trump and his extremist Project 2025 agenda," said Harris, who thanked and praised Biden for his service, praised his legacy and the "honor" of serving alongside him. .
"With this selfless and patriotic act, President Biden is doing what he has done all his life: putting the American people and our country above all else," Harris said of the stepback.
He noted that Election Day is 107 days away, an acknowledgment that Harris has a very short window of time to consolidate his party's support. "We will fight together. And we will win together," he said.
