Finance Minister Mihály Varga drew attention on his social media page to the fact that, contrary to the austerity and withdrawal policies of the Gyurcsány-Bajnai governments, the government continues to deal with the crisis period with subsidies and tax cuts.

"Less than two months have passed since the last meeting of the National Competitiveness Council, the tax relief provisions proposed there have already entered into force and were published in the Hungarian Gazette. We estimate that with the new discounts HUF 60 billion can remain with families and businesses, so this amount can also help restart the economy.
We will continue to deal with the crisis not with austerity, but with subsidies and tax cuts."
