Cardinal Pietro Parolin traveled to Ukraine and conveys the closeness of the Pope.
"The Vatican is also in favor of peace: 'A way must be found to end the conflict quickly'," read Balázs Orbán's Facebook post on Thursday in connection with Cardinal Pietro Parolin's trip to Ukraine.
The cardinal conveys the closeness of the pope, who "from the beginning tried to find a way to end the war and a just peace," wrote the prime minister's political director.
During his visit to Ukraine, the cardinal who heads the State Secretariat of the Holy See also met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, and after the meeting he confirmed and explained the pro-peace Vatican position: "If there is to be peace, it must be concluded between the two parties."
Parolin added that he hopes that "other (diplomatic) formulas can be found so that some kind of gap will finally open", wrote Balázs Orbán.
