The treatment, for which a collection was started for the former Olympic champion gymnast, Henrietta Ónodi, would cost 5 million forints per week. One of his relatives told me about the details now.

Her sister Barbara started a fundraiser for the rehabilitation of Henrietta Ónodi, who lives in the United States. As it turned out, the athlete underwent life-saving surgery in the spring, but he needs long-term medical treatment, which is extremely expensive.

Henrietta Ónodi's sister has now revealed more details about why they had to start a collection. A target amount of 500,000 dollars (roughly HUF 182 million) was set for the collection, which is based on the fact that overseas treatments can be extremely expensive - and in the current case, this is not even covered by health insurance.

The recommended rehab clinic in Jacksonville that my brother needs costs two thousand dollars a day, but his insurance won't cover it

- said Henrietta Ónodi's sister, Barbara, Sportal (two thousand dollars a day is roughly HUF 730,000 at the current exchange rate, which means that it is a little more than five million HUF on a weekly basis).

He also explained: "My sister has health insurance, but unfortunately they don't want to pay for this care, that's what is being negotiated now." As he said, in similar cases, patients start to negotiate with the insurance company what percentage they will take on, but they don't want to wait, and that's why he decided to start collecting in the meantime. "We are not thinking in two months, but in the longer term, so that we can do everything for his recovery," added Barbara.
