From the Artist:

The images of the painting cycle entitled Testimonia corporis (The Testimony of the Body) were inspired by the cult objects of the Christian religion, primarily the old reliquaries, the elements of the altar, and the public remains of the saints of the Catholic Church.

Monument reliquaries or accompanying votive objects present the physical reality of the human body in a way that is far removed from what we consider sensually attractive. Concretes in the form of a severed arm, leg, or "shot through" torso, in which the precious relic is placed. The body fragments depicted in sculptural form, together with the "visible presence" of human remains, bear witness to the existence, holy life or martyrdom of a person who dedicated his life to God, while for the multitude of believers they are an object of respect and worship. For me, the main source of inspiration for the paintings presented in the exhibition is the juxtaposition of the suggestive, tangible physicality and the purely spiritual, transcendent reality.

The series of paintings entitled Testimonia corporis was created in the framework of the ministerial scholarship for culture, heritage protection and sports awarded in 2021. The exhibition also included paintings that, although they do not belong to this series, are characterized by a similar mood and theme.

"We honor and venerate the relics of martyrs and confessors in such a way that we worship the one whose martyrs and confessors are; we honor the servants so that the honor returns to the Lord."

XV. Pope John

The exhibition can be viewed until March 16, 2023, every weekday between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
