14 specialties of Semmelweis University (SE) have been included among the best in the world, within this, in the field of cardiovascular medicine, compared to last year's result, it moved up 12 places to 31st in the list of US News Best Global Universities - the rector of the university pointed out to M1 on the current channel.
Béla Merkely added: this ranking causes a serious response at the international level as well, since today cardiovascular medicine is an outstanding field all over the world, most illnesses and most deaths can be linked to this group of diseases.
For this result, he had to beat hundreds of American and European universities, such as the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, the Sorbonne University in Paris, King's College in London or Boston and Washington Universities in the United States

It was mentioned that in the past 15 years, systematic development has been taking place at the university, including at the Heart and Vascular Clinic in Városmajor in the field of infrastructure and human resources. He highlighted:
more than 15,000 surgeries are performed at the clinic, and there is no intervention that they cannot perform.
Béla Merkely also spoke about the fact that the SE also plays a major role in the development of health care in the region, and that during Hungary's successive EU presidency, action against cardiovascular diseases and the development of a joint EU action plan are the top priorities of the health sector.
