The DK leader himself reacted to the incident.

The Prosecutor General's Office recently announced that it will carry out a coordinated action on Wednesday in the so-called corruption case in Óbuda at several locations, including the Municipality of Óbuda-Békásmegyer. It seems that László Kiss, the mayor of Óbuda, was also arrested, Magyar Nemzet reported.

Ferenc Gyurcsány also reported on the incident on his social media page. The president of the Republic of Denmark called the detention an "obvious political provocation and meanness".

The opposition politician added,

"in this case, there is no question of guilt, which is the basic reason for detention. Of course, legal colleagues can note that yes, but someone can be detained even if it is likely that the court will order the person in question's pretrial detention. It really is."

He then continued, "There are no coincidences in Orbán's system, and there is certainly no professional independence. If Laci Kiss, the mayor of Óbuda, was detained, it was for a political reason".

Because, as we saw above, there is no professional reason.

"Just as obviously not a district police captain decided to initiate proceedings against Anna Donáth, Zita Gurmai and Károly Herényi in a case steeped in politics. Please!”

Gyurcsány said.

The key figure in the case will remain in prison until September

Gábor P., who was arrested at the beginning of March and is considered the key figure in the Óbuda corruption scandal, will remain in prison until September.

At that time, the prosecutor's office stated that a man had entered into fictitious contracts for the provision of services and the purchase of assets through his limited liability company III. with the district Self-Government, and with two business companies designated by one of the suspect's companions.

The suspects took the sums of money received as consideration for the fictitious contracts in cash and used them for corrupt purposes.

At the same time, during the summer, it also became clear who a significant part of the money might have landed on: Gergő Czeglédy, deputy mayor of Óbuda's MSZP, and a confidant were detained, arrested and suspected of qualified bribery. The Central Investigative Prosecutor's Office (KNYF) suspects the deputy mayor of having accepted a hundred million HUF in bribes to secure the placement of an advertising company's posters in Óbuda.

Fictitious contracts were concluded to conceal the origin and purpose of the bribe money.

Magyar Nemzet recalled at the time that DK mayor László Kiss was also under suspicion, as one of the actors in the case testified that the sums received in cash from the fictitious contracts had to be given to mayor László Kiss as well.

Anonymous started the "avalanche"

It should be remembered that Anonymous reported on the background of the case several times in 2021. Among the materials published by the masked figure, a recording made with a hidden camera shows that

the already mentioned P. Gábor and an unknown person settled in a car with several million forints presumably in bribes.

The frames clearly show how the sums were put into paper bags. According to the masked man, III. it was money redistributed from the orders of the district municipality.
