Hundreds of thousands of flower carts decorated with live and dry flowers, a surprise composition and among them about 1,500 dancers, musicians, and stunt performers marched through Debrecen on August 20 at the 58th flower carnival.
After the traditional consecration of bread in front of the Great Church, the experience run and the parade of oldtimers, the composition representing the Holy Crown was once again at the head of the carnival procession, and then the flower carts, including the art groups, paraded in front of the audience of the seven stands and the audience filling the streets.
Debrecen and its Japanese sister city, Tojama's "Soul to Soul" cart referred to the strong relationship between the two cities, and the joint composition of Great Várad and Debrecen forming a special water lily referred to the beneficial thermal waters of the two regions. Gedeon Richter's composition The four bodyguards was based on the four main pillars of the factory's activities, Magyar Posta's composition So many flowers, but one garden was inspired by fairy tales, Fórum Debrecen's car guided viewers into the flourishing world of fashion, BMW Group Gyár Debrecen and its flowers symbolized sustainability.
The latter was also displayed by the flower pandams of the Catl battery factory: in the spirit of sustainability, the composition was decorated with dry flowers and 30 percent potted plants, which are offered to public institutions after the carnival. The Teva pharmaceutical company dazzled the audience with smile molecules made of colorful flowers, the 3×3 sports events came to life on the Cívis basketball club car, and the floral astronaut of the composition of the Vocational Training Center in Debrecen drew attention to the trinity of vision, knowledge and innovation. The procession of flower carts was closed by a surprise composition by Compagnei Planete Vapeur from Nice, A dragon.
The German group Stelzen Art will perform at the flower carnival in Debrecen on August 20, 2024.

The flower carts were accompanied by domestic and foreign art groups.
Tamba Taya (Spain), Ballet Opera (Spain), Compagnie Planete Vapeur (France), Bandierai Degli Uffizi di Firenze (Italy), Bafofim Ballet Folklorico Fiesta Mexicana (Mexico), Stelzen Art (Germany), Ensamble Iberioni (Georgia), as well as Batala International from Brazil with more than 250 drummers.
The parade on August 20 was preceded by a full carnival week. Free big concerts were held every night on Kossuth Square, on the evening of August 20, the audience of the Flower Carnival in Debrecen can celebrate together with the Bagossy Brothers.
This year, the previously traditional night parade, which has been missing for several years, will return: artistic groups and flower carts will march from Szent Anna utca to Kossuth tér illuminated in the evening.
