The final resting place of the poet in the Házsongárd cemetery in Cluj will once again be worthy of the outstanding figure of our literature.
For some time, stands used during construction have been placed at the tomb of Jenő Dsida in the Házsongárd cemetery in Cluj. Dávid Sipos, secretary of the Házsongárd Foundation, said:
the works have started, the final resting place of the poetic giant will soon be back in its old glory.
According to the first surveys, the tomb is not in a bad condition, but the full picture will only be revealed when the layer of earth that has been deposited on it over the years is removed from the grave. Since it is embedded in a hillside, there may be several tons of soil on it, so it must be removed in the first round. It is already certain that the facade tilted slightly under the heavy weight, but it seems that there are no particularly large cracks or collapses.
Although the exact condition of the external structure has yet to be assessed, it is known that the interior of the tomb is in quite good condition. No other family member used it, so Dsida's metal casket is the only one inside.
Dávid Sipos also said that the coffin itself is in good condition, it was not damaged by rust, and it even has the wreath ribbons that were placed there during the funeral.
The Házsongárd Foundation received the necessary construction permits two months ago, so the "cleaning" part is slowly starting. Dávid Sipos would like to be able to peel off the soil layer before the frosts set in, because that would greatly facilitate the work later. We learned from the secretary of the foundation that everything is currently in place for the renovation:
Architect Macalik Arnold and his team are working on it, the necessary permits are in place, so the end of the works depends only on the financial resources. But Dávid Sipos is not worried, according to him, everything has always been resolved, and he is confident that there will continue to be well-intentioned donors with their help to finish the renovation as soon as possible.
The Házsongárd Foundation is also working on the renovation of two other crypts, and they hope that the next one, the Jósika tomb shop, will also take place soon.
