"Sometimes we had to lie about being roommates so we could get toilet paper"

Ariarne Titmus, the four-time Olympic champion swimmer of the Australians, drew double attention to himself with his statements after the Paris Games. 24.hu wrote.

We wrote earlier that not everything was ideal in the Olympic village, the quality and size of the cardboard bed left much to be desired, but due to the high heat, there were athletes who preferred to lie down in the park to sleep than the 100-meter backstroke champion, the Italian Thomas Ceccon.

According to British star Adam Peaty, the food was also a hit.

Ariarne Titmus, who won the 200 and 400 IM in Tokyo, defended her title in the 400 in Paris (she won in a huge battle in front of Canada's Summer McIntosh and the USA's Katie Ledecky) and was also a member of the Australians' gold-medal 4×200 IM relay.

The 23-year-old athlete told the Australian press that the condition of their room was catastrophic.

The bathroom in my apartment was bigger than the living room in the Olympic Village. Our sheets were only changed the first night and not for the rest of our stay so we lived in squalor

– He told.

He also told me that they had to scramble for toilet paper, because one roll was enough for four people.

"Sometimes we had to lie about being roommates so we could get toilet paper," he added.

But Titmus previously made a shocking announcement: after feeling completely exhausted both physically and emotionally, he decided to take a longer break.

"I have no plans to return. Then when I feel ready. It could be up to 12 months,” he said.
