With the reduction of producer prices, the profits of the traders are actually paid by the livestock keepers.
According to the egg association, the price of table eggs has fallen so much in the recent period that it is already endangering the sustainability of production.
In a statement sent to MTI on Monday, the Association of Hungarian Egg Hybrid Breeders and Egg Producers wrote that since production costs cannot be expected to decrease,
from autumn, price increases will be necessary on the egg market.
This can also be justified by the fact that the producers have to buy or tie up a large part of their feed needs in the next period, the purchase and financing costs of which may rise significantly due to the increase in crop prices due to extreme weather, they added.
According to the association, the situation of egg producers is worsened by the fact that despite the fact that the government recently repealed the decrees that regulated the behavior of traders related to supply and pricing, consumer egg prices have not increased. That way
the situation arose that with the reduction of producer prices, the profits of the traders were actually paid by the livestock keepers
- said the association.
Based on the experience of recent years, significant fluctuations in prices are clearly harmful to the domestic egg sector. Therefore, the interests of all sector players would be served if long-term agreements were reached between producers and traders that would create price stability instead of fluctuations and guarantee the balance of domestic production on the egg market - they concluded.
