Just a few days ago, we announced that a high school student from Miskolc had won first place at the International Informatics Student Olympiad, and the next announcement is already here, the Hungarian delegation returned home from the International Artificial Intelligence Student Olympiad in Saudi Arabia with four medals (one gold, two silver, one bronze). 

As we wrote , Ádám Molnár István Molnár, a graduate of Földes Ferenc High School, won a gold medal at the International Informatics Student Olympiad, which was held between September 1 and 8 in Alexandria, Egypt. In this year's competition, a total of 364 students compared their IT skills, among them the young talent was the best.

The four Hungarian competitors won four medals at the first student Olympiad focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), in which their skills were measured not in teams, but in individual competitions. The IAIO (International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad) was held for the first time on September 8-12. was held in Riyadh between - was revealed in the event's press release.

The IAIO, which took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is a student Olympiad that debuted this year, in which teams of four from each country could participate. Each of the hundred competitors from twenty-five countries was able to demonstrate their individual skills in the field of artificial intelligence.

Focused on high school students, IAIO aims to discover and support young talents from around the world in the field of artificial intelligence.

This international competition offers students the opportunity to showcase their skills in artificial intelligence fields such as computer vision, robotics, machine learning, neural networks/deep learning, and natural language processing.

Hungarian successes

The Hungarian student Olympians prepared for the competition in the talent management program of the Neumann Company, in cooperation with the Faculty of Informatics of ELTE. The Hungarian student Olympians were selected by the trainers based on their results in the rapid selection competition of the preparatory camp organized at ELTE IK.

At the IAIO 2024, all Hungarian student Olympians won medals:

Benedek Labancz, 12th grade student of János Bolyai High School in Kecskemét, gold medal,

Christ Miranda Anna, 12th grader of Budapesti Fazekas Mihály Gyakorló Elementary School and High School

and Balázs Szilágyi, 11-year-old silver medal from Veres Péter High School in Békásmegyeri,

Vince Ungár, a 10-year-old from Péter Veres High School in Békásmegyeri, won a bronze medal as the youngest member of the delegation.

The team leader was László Gulyás, vice president of the Neumann Society and associate professor of the Department of Artificial Intelligence at ELTE IK, and the deputy team leader was Tamás Takács, a doctoral student at ELTE.
