The position of the very wise left-liberal majority of the EP could plunge Europe into a nuclear world war.
"What the European Parliament is calling for will lead to a world war fought with nuclear weapons," said Vyacheslav Vologyin. The President of the State Duma also called on the EP to dissolve itself after adopting the resolution.
He recalled that 27 million Soviet citizens lost their lives during the fight against fascism and wrote that it was his country that liberated "the whole of Europe". According to him, in the case of strikes carried out deep inside the country with Western weapons, Russia will give a tough response "using stronger weapons".
He added that no one should have any illusions about this and pointed out that the flight time of the Sarmat rocket to Strasbourg is 3 minutes and 20 seconds.
In a resolution passed by 425 votes to 131 and 63 abstentions at Thursday's meeting, the European Parliament asked the EU member states to allow Kiev to use weapons systems received from Western countries "legitimate military targets" in Russia. According to the document, without lifting the restriction, Ukraine cannot fully exercise its right to self-defense, and thus its population and infrastructure remain vulnerable to attack.
The EP also agreed that all EU countries and NATO allies undertake jointly and individually to provide military support to Ukraine amounting to at least 0.25 percent of their GDP annually.
