This is not the most effective way to maintain good neighborly relations.

Katalin Novák is a representative of the new wave of European right-wing populism. He also represents Viktor Orbán's work of independent institutions and his policy of undermining the rule of law, which almost all of Western Europe now opposes, says the opinion article published on Vecer's website.

According to Timotej Milanov, it is commendable if the heads of state strive for exemplary relations, and the Slovenian head of state Pirc Musar spoke highly of the Hungarian president several times.

But he suggests that Musar should not be naive and stay away from issues that do not resonate with the majority of the community that elected him.

The author believes that the political leadership of Slovenia and Hungary could not be more different today. He notes that Viktor Orbán has been pursuing the policy of connecting Hungarians within and beyond the border for more than a decade, and this goes far beyond traditional minority care.

According to Milanov, it is a huge investment in the territory of another country, and where there is money, there is influence, so the Slovenian government must be very careful with Hungary's actions.

The journalist also drew attention to the fact that the economic cooperation between the two countries is flourishing, Hungarian companies play an important role in the Slovenian banking sector and the market of petroleum products.

Incidentally, Katalin Novák recently visited Slovenia, where, at the end of her visit to Muravidék, she talked with the Slovenian president about the situation of minorities, among other things, with the participation of members of the Hungarian community.

It was good to experience today in Muravidék that a national minority can live together with the majority nation in peace, supporting each other, Katalin Novák wrote in her Facebook post.
