According to the former mayor of Budapest, from the point of view of flood protection, the construction of the protection structure to be built on the Római bank would be extremely important. Without it, the entire Zzillaghegyi bay is exposed to a potential tidal wave.
In many questions, István Tarlós refuted everything that we heard from the mayor recently about flood protection. According to Tarlós, during his reign, around ten billion forints were allocated for flood protection developments. "We completed the Pünkösdfürdő defense before 2019. In this regard, false information recently appeared in the media, according to which the capital has developed this defense system in recent years. "In the past five years, the capital has actually completed the protective structure we started on the left bank of the Aranyhegyi stream on and near the Római bank, and the government has built the structure on the right bank of the Barát stream," said the former city manager.
According to Tarlós, the design of the 3.1-kilometer-long defense parallel to the Danube, which is the soul and the most controversial element of the Czillaghegy bay protection, also began during his term.
"To this day, I believe that the mobile defense we envisioned was primarily a victim of political obstruction, with the result that there will be no stable flood protection in Rome at least until 2029."
According to the former mayor, if the "dark greens" and the climate revolutionaries had not scuttled the plan of the mobile dam they wanted to build, then the protection structure, which should protect what is legally called a wave field, but in practice since 1914, would have been standing long ago an area that does not function as a wave field, and the 55,000 citizens of Czillaghegy and Békásmegyer.
"The current wave of prices has shown what certain media kept silent about, that mobile dams have worked in several places in Hungary and Europe.
Until the mid-2010s, there was agreement that a mobile dam was needed along the coast in Rome. The Demszkys were already thinking about this, and they even stated in a decision that the development of the defense should be done on the coast. On the other hand, we have six expert opinions from serious professional organizations, such as the Budapest University of Technology, a working group of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Water Science Council, the Directorate-General for Water and the Master Plan, that the defense should be built on the coast," he stated.
Information appeared in the media that the construction of the defenses on this three-kilometer section was half finished.
"I say definitely, because it is a fact that a hoe cut did not take place in the area. I don't understand how to describe such things. Since 2016, the Greens and the dwarf parties have been fooling the people by saying that they know for sure that this building must be built on the King's Road - Nánási Road route. However, they are only now starting to work on the implementation plans. What happened in five years? It is still heard that the city administration claims that they had to talk a lot about the defense structure. Why did we have to talk a lot if they already knew in 2016 what the correct route of the dam was? Now I hear offended, euphemistic and professionally incomprehensible explanations," said Tarlós, who
he considers it heartless that if such an expensive protective structure is built, then those who built in the former wave space will be deliberately excluded from the protection.
According to the assessment of the former mayor, even in the most optimal case, the cszillaghegy bay will not be protected until at least 2029. "I hope that not only Karácsony, but also the city will be so lucky that a more destructive flood wave will not come, endangering all 55,000 residents. If this were to happen, I don't know how they could explain this delay, excluding the communication of the climate fighters before 2019," said István Tarlós, who also warned:
the flood protection system is also unsatisfactory at many other points in the capital.
"In addition to the Csillaghegy bay area, the area of Újpest, the northern Angyalföld area, the Belváros, Batthyány tér and Bem tér are at least as endangered, because the parapet walls are already in critical condition. It is important to point out that the dimensions of Budapest's flood protection facilities do not meet the new standards, either in terms of cross-section or height. Their stability can be questioned in several places, especially in the Királyok útja - Nánási út section, where the rabbit dam has no foundations, never had a construction permit, and still does not have a regular use permit," the former mayor pointed out.
