On October 4, the day of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi, we celebrate World Animal Day.

The idea of World Animal Day first arose in the framework of an environmental conference held in Florence in 1931. In memory of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, who died in 1226, this day was set for October 4.

St. Francis of Assisi proclaimed at the beginning of the 13th century that we should love everything that surrounds us, so the basic principle of this day is to not forget it: animals make our lives happier, enrich our everyday lives as helpers and friends. The purpose of the holiday is to strengthen the friendship between humans and animals, as well as draw attention to the importance of living together.

More and more wild animals are becoming endangered due to the continuous destruction of their habitat: species are disappearing or are being forced to seek shelter near populated areas, and an excellent example of this is that not so long ago one of Hitchcock's classics almost became a reality: an Argentine was overwhelmed by birds a small town, because the forested areas serving as their habitat have become very depleted.

On October 4, World Animal Day, let's pay special attention to the natural world around us, realize how many wonders it hides, and do everything we can to protect it.
