The work about the operations in Kabul sets an example for the heroes of today.
The Hungarian film drama about the military rescue operation in Kabul sets an example of military heroism - emphasized the Minister of National Defense at the press conference held in the Ruins of Újdörögd on Wednesday.
Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said that Hungarian history abounds in heroic deeds that must be remembered, as they set an example and give support. But even today there are heroes who are often undeservedly forgotten, he added.
The film about the 2021 military rescue operation in Kabul, which will be seen by the public in the second half of 2025, "will shape the example set by the Hungarian soldiers," he said.
He recalled: the national defense joined the operations in Afghanistan in 2003. The film Operation Kabul presents a story from three years ago, when the Hungarian Defense Forces brought 540 people, including 180 children, out of Afghanistan amid the withdrawal of NATO forces.
The head of the ministry also spoke about the fact that the national defense can count on successful reserve recruitment, adding that a mini-series is being launched on TV2, and a military show is also being prepared.
The point of everything is that as many people as possible get to know the lives of soldiers, he added.
Zoltán Pető, Deputy CEO of the Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund (MTVA), emphasized that "the primary mission of the public media is to process the legacy of our culture and history, as well as tell the current events of Hungarian history."
Dyga Zsombor, the film's director, said that in addition to the presentation of the collective rescue, there is also a romantic thread in the background, thus making the story more personal.
The production, based on reality and interwoven with fictional elements, is produced under the leadership of producer Tamás Lajos, starring Blanka Mészáros and Gábor Jászberényi.
