The last pilgrimage of the year is held in Mátraverebély-Szentkút on Saturday; on the occasion of St. Hubertus' farewell, a game-eating cooking competition will also be held at the national shrine - announced the press chief of the Nógrád County Farewell Walk on Thursday.
Regina Kerekes-Dancsok said: the national shrine receives 300,000 visitors every year during the farewell season, which ends each year with the pilgrimage of St. Hubertus, meaning the Foresters and Hunters.
The special feature of the last farewell of the year is that a game cooking competition is organized, where "the secret flavors of the ancient forests" and the masters of culinary art meet.
Three restaurants in Nógrád county will compete after the East Cserhát Trophy and the festive mass, and they will use donkey meat as a mandatory element in the menu, he explained.
The food specialties are evaluated by the jury and the guests who sign up for the dinner.
On Friday, the day before the farewell, the conference will discuss the effects of climate change on the habitats of big game.
On Saturday, archery and hunting dog demonstrations, a local craft fair, a nature photography exhibition and situational laser shooting await visitors in Szentkút.
