"Péter Magyar is scared because of Trump's victory, he doesn't dare to run in the January by-election in Tolna , wrote Dániel Deák, the XXI. Század Intézet's leading analyst after Péter Magyar announced that the opposition TISZA Party will not field a candidate either in the current or any future by-elections. (In the meantime, the opposition party leader congratulated Donald Trump on his victory.)
The Tisza Party will not field a candidate in the by-elections, party leader Péter Magyar announced on his Facebook page on Wednesday. Magyar's announcement is also interesting from the point of view, because based on Median and other left-wing research, they are already preparing for a change of government... - noted Dániel Deák, which was shared by Mandiner.
"Supporting the majority of our compatriots comes with a huge responsibility. From now on, we have to make our decisions even more thoughtfully, even better prepared," said Péter Magyar on Facebook, emphasizing that this is also the case in connection with the by-election to be held in January in electoral district No. 2 of Tolna County.
He wrote: the party's presidency decided that "neither in the current nor in any future by-elections" will they field a candidate.
Among the reasons for the decision, Péter Magyar mentioned that
"due to the government's continuous rule of law, the role of the Parliament is currently completely negligible. The representatives do not have substantive control and influence over government decisions".
Furthermore, a possible Tisza victory would not change Fidesz's two-thirds majority in the Parliament. As a sole representative, without a faction, the elected Tisza representative would have almost no rights, he wrote.
According to its post, the Tisza Party "does not wish to assist the joint puppet theater of Fidesz and the opposition parties that no longer have substantial support in the Parliament" until the parliamentary elections to be held in just over a year.
In the spring of 2026, in the next parliamentary election, the party will face the "National Joint Crime System". But then everywhere and using all democratic tools, "with the support of millions of Hungarians behind us," wrote Péter Magyar.
He said that, in order to meet the trust placed in them in advance and to win the decisive parliamentary election, they will devote all their efforts to putting together the winning team and government program over the next year.
The party recommends the people living in Tolna county not to participate in the interim election on January 12, thus sending a message that "they will not assist the 20-year-long charade of the ruling elite."
- can be read in Péter Magyar's post.
It is well known that on January 12th there will be an interim parliamentary election in the 2nd individual electoral district of Tolna County, in and around Dombóvár, due to the death of Fidesz representative János Árpád Potápi. The governing parties have not found a winner here since 1998.
