According to the report of his press chief, Viktor Orbán said in his acceptance speech: we Hungarians are the westernmost people from the east, we migrated to Europe from the east, and we are the only ones that have survived among similarly migrating peoples. He called it important that the relationship between Hungary and the Turkic world should not be a closed past, but a living relationship.
He emphasized: he does not see the recognition as a personal merit, since the work of many, many people from the past hundred years is included in this award. Finally, he explained: he believes that the community of Turkish peoples will be one of the most successful regions in the world.
