The largest diplomatic event in Hungary's history will take place on Thursday and Friday in Budapest at the Puskás Arena: 47 heads of state and government will take part in the informal summit of the European Political Community (EPC), whose aim is for the member states and their regional allies to discuss Europe's security challenges. These two days are a real diplomatic dump, since after the summit the European Council will also hold its informal meeting in Budapest, the main topic of which will be the EU growth pact, which is the priority of the currently running six-month Hungarian EU presidency.

At the beginning of the interview, the topic was the Prime Minister's opening speech on Thursday. "There is an uncomfortable situation that is difficult to resolve, as everyone knows that the last two years have caused enormous damage to the entire world. Everyone also knows that if Donald Trump wins in the USA in 2020, these two years would not have happened. This was not done, and for that we are now paying a terrible price," Orbán stressed. According to the prime minister, European leaders - "except for a few of us" - supported this bad thing.

Donald Trump is a real businessman who hates war, according to Viktor Orbán. He stated: Europe alone cannot finance this war. He believes that the number of those who remain silent is increasing, as well as the number of those who think it is necessary to adapt to the new situation.

Regarding the diplomatic summit, Orbán said that respect for Hungary has grown significantly in recent days. "Everyone can be proud of the Hungarian organization of the summit. Many people admire Hungary and were guests of a great culture."

Viktor Orbán emphasized that there is a direct connection between the family budget and world politics, as our biggest problem is war. "If inflation had not run away, the situation would be much better. If the Democrats had won, a war budget would have had to be drawn up next year. Since Trump won, a peace budget can be prepared," he noted.

Viktor Orbán also spoke about the fact that even serious skulls are incapable of considering Hungarian self-interest as a starting point. "They always want to be impaled next to someone else. I don't think it can be that way. If we want to do serious things and develop, then we have to accept that we are Hungarians, with our own interests, and we will navigate the political universe accordingly."

Viktor Orbán also talked about how there is a division of labor in society that some people try to understand the future, and these would be the politicians. "Politicians need to focus on understanding what will happen in the future and build plans around that."

The informal EU summit will take place in Budapest on Friday. According to the prime minister, they are facing an exciting meeting. "What happens in the next few hours can be intellectually fascinating." Viktor Orbán said that the former EU Central Bank President Mario Draghi is among the invited guests. "I met him yesterday to prepare for his presentation today. As a result of many months of work, he compiled a vision of what is wrong with the European economy."
"This is much more devastating than what I usually say about the downward spiral of the European economy. Draghi described how European competitiveness has deteriorated and also that urgent action is needed!"
Viktor Orbán said:
the heart of the problem is that today a European company pays four times as much for gas and three times as much for electricity as an American company.
We have to find a solution to this, because until then there can be no progress," he added, and then he also noted that the fact that Hungarian families have the cheapest energy prices is an incredible competitive advantage.
Migration, judicial activism
There is no problem with Italian laws in the area of immigration, said Orbán "court activism" . "There is a federalist judicial culture in Brussels and they ruled that the laws conflicted with EU migration laws and so they were struck down. If it was only a matter of the national level, it would be simple," he added. He emphasized:
