Sports diplomacy will flourish significantly in the coming years.
According to Sándor Wladár, who manages the Hungarian Swimming Association (MÚSZ), the fact that the international association of water sports (World Aquatics) is moving to Budapest is of historical significance.
On Monday, at the handover of the temporary office of World Aquatics, the sports leader told the current channel M1 : what was promised two years ago was fulfilled today, and the final Aqua headquarters will also be handed over by 2027.
"It is a great success that the organization is moving to Hungary, sports diplomacy will flourish significantly in the coming years"
- said Wladár.
According to the president, recent years have shown that there is a relationship of trust and friendship between MÚSZ and WA, which is also due to the fact that the Hungarian association has performed many times in recent years.
"We won the Grand Slam, this year we held a short-track, previously a long-track World Championship, and we also organized a Junior World Cup, World Cups and a European bubble championship. This is a result based on which the world association saw it as worth coming here," said Sándor Wladár.
The president of the Hungarian Water Polo Association, Norbert Madaras, spoke about how Hungary has already proven itself, because it not only received the opportunities to organize, but also used them.
"Everyone was always satisfied. The next event will be the Aquatic World Championships in 2027, which could create an even closer relationship between WA and the local aquatics federations,” Madaras added.
Next year's Aquatic World Cup will be held in Singapore, 2029 in Beijing.
