We, the Hungarians, were and are right that there is a need for system change in the Western world, the speaker said.

Hungary remains the island of peace, security and normality in a world fraught with crisis, declared László Kövér, the President of the Parliament, in his speech to the participants of this year's meeting of the Hungarian Diaspora Council and the Hungarian Standing Conference (Maért) on Wednesday evening, in the Hunting Room of the Parliament.

As long as our country has a national government, you can always count on the motherland abroad, and Hungary will always count on you, said the Speaker.

He emphasized: Hungary was and is right that "the European Union cannot turn from a plan of peace, democracy and prosperity into a reality of war, dictatorship and impoverishment, because this is not in the interest of the European people".

"We, Hungarians, were and are right that a system change is needed in the Western world, that is, a political system that is against the interests of the people and built to ignore the people must be replaced," added László Kövér, emphasizing that there is now a chance for this system change in the United States, and a similar system change is also maturing in the European Union.

This is the only chance that "in the twenty-first century, Western politics can be renewed, Western creativity can unfold again, and the West can preserve its historical weight and role in the world," he said.

The President of the National Assembly emphasized that: as the people of Lajos Kossuth, we were and are right in that the ideal of democracy formulated by Lajos Kossuth in 1852 is still valid today, from the United States to Europe to Australia, i.e. in the broad Western world.

"Everything for the people and everything by the people. Nothing about the people by ignoring the people. This is democracy".

László Kövér recalled that in his victory speech, the president-elect of the United States - referring to the unsuccessful assassination attempt against him - stated that "it was not by chance that Jesus spared my life". The Speaker of the House stated that these words strengthen the hope in us, Hungarians, that the change in the American political system, which will officially begin on January 20 next year, will be successful and will benefit not only America, but also the whole world.

In all of these processes, Hungary, performing above its political power, is a role model and active ally of the system-changing forces of the Western world, added László Kövér, who also reminded his audience that Hungarian national politics, since Mohács, has always had to perform tasks beyond its power.

Even today, our successes and our failures, which sometimes lead to tragedy, warn us not to ask the lord of history for a task suited to our strength, but for a strength suited to our task, said the Speaker of the House.

He added: for the successful continuation of our national policy, moral and political support from the majority of the Hungarian nation living inside and outside the borders is essential.

He emphasized: as long as we can preserve our national unity, our national policy will remain effective, thus Hungary will continue to be the home of peace, security and normality for all Hungarians living in the Carpathian Basin and in the wider world.

László Kövér also spoke about: a difficult year is behind us, perhaps even more difficult ahead, and the political difficulties are compounded by personal losses that occur year after year. Among them, he mentioned Miklós Duray, Zsuzsanna Répás, István Pásztor and Árpád Potápi, who died last month.

He praised the state secretary responsible for national policy by saying that he "incarnated the essence of Hungarian national policy in his personality: even if he didn't always have money for everything, he always had an honest, kind word for everyone." The speaker introduced Árpád Potápi's official successor, Lőrince Nacsa, to the participants.

Speaking about the events of the wider world, László Kövér emphasized: nowadays, in Scandinavia, governments distribute war preparation materials to the population, in Berlin, the chief of police gives advice to Jewish people about where they should not go in the German capital if they want to do good for themselves.

On the Ukrainian-Russian front, hundreds of thousands have lost their lives in the last two years, and the third world war hangs in the air, he added.
