The leadership has lost momentum, they have no answer to the Péter Magyar phenomenon, which is why dissatisfaction is growing in the ranks of the party, said Abd El Rahim Ali, president of the Democratic Coalition in Józsefváros, in Partizán.

As we wrote, Abd El Rahim Ali, the president of the Democratic Coalition (DK) in Józsefváros, challenged Ferenc Gyurcsány in the party's presidential election over the weekend and now gave a surprisingly sympathetic and honest interview to Partizán.

Come on Ali! - this is Gyurcsány's new challenger within the party

He said: in order for the left to renew itself, Gyurcsány must go. He added that

he does not have a personal problem with Ferenc Gyurcsány, but the president's performance is the problem.

He told Partizán that there is a problem with the vision of the president and the party leadership, because they cannot find the answer to Péter Magyar either, and there is no political innovation in the party. He believes that since Klára Dobrev stepped back, Ferenc Gyurcsány's step forward did not help, it only worsened the support.

"There is significant dissatisfaction within the party, there is no constituency president who does not have a problem with the leadership"

Abd El Rahim Ali stated. The leading politicians of the DK have told him several times in conversations that the problem is with Ferenc Gyurcsány, he claims. His goal is to save his community "so that there is no annihilation in 2026." According to him, driving is tired,

"Since Péter Magyar, they are in a panic, they are in a hurry".

If Ferenc Gyurcsány stays, the party will almost certainly be destroyed in 2026, he said.

The entire membership of the Democratic Coalition will elect the president of the party in an online party vote in January 2025, and it is expected that a decision will be made on the party's vice presidents, board members and other officials at the DK congress on February 2. They added that just because someone applies for a position, the applicant does not automatically become a candidate, as that is decided by the nomination committee.
