Well done, girls!

The Hungarian women's handball team defeated North Macedonia 29-19 in the last round of the group stage of the partly domestically organized European Championship on Monday, thus advancing to the semi-finals as the group leader with the maximum two points.

The sixth-placed Olympic team of head coach Vladimir Golovin defeated Turkey 30-24 on Thursday and Sweden 32-25 on Saturday in the Phoenix Arena in Debrecen. During the semifinals, he will play in the same place on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and next Tuesday.

Knowing that the national team was already in the first place in the group, it was in a comfortable position to wait for its last meeting in the A group. Two days earlier, the key players of the national team played almost the entire group stage against the Swedes, before Vladimir Golovin, the opportunity was given to the squad members who got less playing time.

Shot putter Gréta Kácsor and goalkeeper Blanka Böde-Bíró were left out of those named for the match this time, and the professional staff named Luca Csíkos and Kinga Janurik in their place - for the first time in the continental competition.

This was the ninth match between the two teams, and the Hungarian national team's record has always been flawless. His success in the semi-finals means that, regardless of the outcome of the Swedish-Turkish clash in the evening, he will take two points to the semi-finals, where the North Macedonians did not make it.
