The former mayor admitted that there is currently a stalemate in the capital and he criticized Dávid Vitézy, referring to communist methods.

The General Assembly is still unable to decide on the capital's new organizational and operating regulations, as well as

approximately two months after the establishment of the board, Budapest still does not have a deputy mayor.

According to Krisztina Baranyi, the mayor of Ferencváros, this way the Government Office and Fidesz will take over the management of the city. And in the summer, we can get to the point where the Parliament dissolves the General Assembly and elections are called.

"There is a stalemate"

Former mayor István Tarlós analyzed the stalemate in ATV's Ejenes Beszéd program, which Mandiner . The host first asked his guest whether early elections could be held in Budapest. Tarlós stated right at the beginning of the conversation that "there is indeed a deadlock, but a new election does not follow from this. It's not that simple."

"Toppling an incumbent mayor is not only technically difficult," he added. He then drew attention to the fact that the capital has an operating deficit of "only 30 billion", so he does not understand what the big promises are about, for example, regarding the construction of apartment buildings.

Stupidity should also have a limit"

- emphasized the former city manager.

István Tarlós also believed that the impossibility of a budget can only be "pushed" to the mayor if that mayor collapses as a person, or if both the pro-government and opposition media turn against him. Then he made the perhaps not so surprising statement from him that if he had to choose between Gergely Karácsony or Dávid Vitézy, he would vote for Karácsony "for sure".

He justified this decision by saying that he has "fairly reliable" memories of the news from the 70s and 80s.

Dávid Vitézy's methods remind me personally of his grandfather, Péter Erdős".

(As is well known, Dávid Vitézy's maternal grandfather is Péter Erdős, who is often referred to as the "pop cézár". Erdős was the controller of the pop music world in the second half of the Kádár era; according to some claims, he decided whose records could be released and whose not in those decades .)

As an example, he gave how the leader of the Podmaniczky Movement recently got involved in the parking camera case. Here he declared, "that was more than meanness, not only because when the incident happened, Vitézy had not worked in the capital for three years, but was the director of a closed and demolished museum, but after he put my name in the proposal, even he added that if he wanted to get personal, he would have told the story".

"I know the beneficial and less beneficial properties of Vitézy"

As is well known, Dávid Vitézy had a proposal, which was also found in the government information, according to which camera recordings could be used to conduct the procedure for those who drive illegally. In this regard, the head of the Budapest faction claimed that all this was banned in 2017 at the suggestion of István Tarlós.

The former mayor responded to this by saying, "Vitézy is playing with it here as if it were his own proposal. (…) In my time, we dealt with this, just like joint patrolling or the BKK police," he noted.

Sometime later, he recalled that he had known Vitézy for 18 years, and that he had knocked on his door as an economics student in 2006. "I know its beneficial and less beneficial properties. (…) I'm not surprised that Gergely Karácsony didn't really want him as deputy mayor. What they are doing with Kárácson in this matter is not fair," he said during the conversation.
