The Hungarian Storms NGR team won a gold medal at the World Robot Olympiad finals in Izmir, Turkey, Edutus University announced.
The Storms NGR team, whose members were Csaba Molnár, Levente Molnár and András Gräff, won first place in the Future Engineers category at the competition held at the end of November.
According to the announcement, competitors from more than 85 countries and more than 500 teams competed in the three-day competition. The teams consisted of young people aged 8-19, who competed in four different categories: RoboMission, RoboSports and Future Innovators and Future Engineers.
At the international robotics and programming world competition, Hungary was represented by eight teams in three age groups and four categories with the support of Edutus University. 12 Hungarian judges also participated in the competition.

With the support of Edutus University, the East Central European Network - which represented another 10 countries of the East-Central European region - also delegated teams to the world competition with the help of the local organizers. A total of 39 teams were able to participate with the support of Edutus University, including domestic teams.
The goal of the World Robot Olympiad, an international robot building and programming competition, is to bring young people closer to the world of natural sciences and encourage them to pursue careers in engineering and IT.
During the preparation for the challenges, which are renewed every year, the teams of 2-3 people work together under the guidance of their team leaders, but in the competitions they can only rely on their own skills.
The venue for the 2025 WRO World Finals will be Singapore.
