The Norwegian Vegan Society (NVS) was finally rejected after three years of trying: the Ministry of Children and Family Affairs, as the highest appeal body, refused to publicly register them as a religious community.

- they claim in their press release.

According to the statement, the Norwegian Vegan Society has submitted its summons and the case will be brought before the Oslo District Court.

Our veganism provides a coherent picture of man's place in life and provides answers to the most important ethical questions. It deserves to be recognized in the same way as other faiths such as humanism and atheism

– is stated in the NVS press release.

NVS wants to be publicly registered as a religious community. With such a status, they could, among other things, claim state subsidies their nearly 1,000 members .
