The Office for the Protection of the Constitution interviewed the employee of the paper because of his fake news about the Syrian plane.

The Office for the Protection of the Constitution is investigating the Magyar Hang fake news scandal, and the case will be brought before the National Security Committee, György Zsombor, editor-in-chief of the Magyar Hang, said in the new broadcast of the program Flaszter, published on the newspaper's YouTube channel.

As is known, a news item appeared on the Magyar Hang website on December 8, in which the fake news was spread that a Syrian plane had landed at the Budapest airport, on which, according to the portal, even the fugitive president of the Middle Eastern country, Bashar al-Assad could also arrive in Hungary.

Péter Magyar also shared the information published in the article - and later classified as fake news - on his Facebook page.

Due to the sensitive spread of fake news, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution launched a national security investigation against Péter Magyar, and as it became clear from the broadcast of the Magyar Hang program, the employee of the paper has already been questioned in the case, and the investigation is ongoing against them as well.

In connection with this, the editor-in-chief of the paper said, among other things, that they have not been notified in an official form yet, but their colleague who wrote the article visited the Constitutional Protection Office on Wednesday.

They cannot reveal all the details about this, but Zsombor György put it this way:

But otherwise, nothing very special happened, they talked, in principle the whole case will be brought before the National Security Committee

- was said on the broadcast.

The editor-in-chief added that they had experienced "maximum fairness" from the office.

Although Zsombor György stated that he did not want to make excuses, a long explanation began:

- We make no excuses, we made a serious professional mistake. So much happened that on Saturday night, at night, and Sunday morning, the events of world politics got very hot, history was really written. It was written that a half-century-old regime had fallen in Syria, and that same evening, at 9:46 p.m., that is, Saturday night, a message from an unknown sender arrived at the central address of the editorial office - the editor-in-chief began, emphasizing that they do not know who the sender was and they really made a serious professional mistake by failing to do a source check.

The editor-in-chief then went on to describe at length the wrong steps that preceded the publication of the fake news that evening.

He stated that the letter contained a story that a Syrian passenger plane had landed in the capital and that security preparations were high. So, in fact, that was the allegation on the basis of which, according to the editor-in-chief, they would not have taken down the fake news, but in view of the world political circumstances, they did so later.

Zsombor György, summarizing what happened, finally said: it was the worst professional decision of my life, of my life, to release this information that this Syrian plane landed in Hungary

said in the show.
