Construction and Transport Minister János Lázár made a harsh criticism of the Tisza Party president and the former president of the Republic Katalin Novák in the latest broadcast of Péter Hajdú's program "Moving in".
The Fidesz politician said in the program that he thinks Péter Magyar is just a "skilled surfer" who was able to ride the political waves caused by the pardon case, but in his opinion, the president of the Tisza Party, apart from sharply criticizing everything the government does, has no alternative does not provide voters.
In response to Hajdú's question as to why he was able to become so popular among opposition voters, Lázár said that he is now a new actor in politics, which is why he seems more interesting than the previous ones. However, the politician also noted that, in his opinion, he did not have so many supporters in Brussels because of Hungarian abilities, but because Viktor Orbán's political opponents are trying to fight back against him through him.
"This is Péter Magyar's biggest pain, that this is also about Viktor Orbán"
he declared.
The presenter and the minister agreed that the biggest "blow" for Fidesz in 2024 was not Péter Magyar, but the pardon case. In this regard, Lázár spoke about how, although the departure of Katalin Novák and Judit Varga was a painful loss, he believed that the president of the republic made such a serious mistake by pardoning the former deputy director of the Bicske orphanage that there was no other answer than resignation. In addition, according to him, Novák fell into the trap of being too ambitious and did not appreciate that at such an age he did not yet have enough experience to assume the position of head of state.
"You can't assume the office of head of state at the age of forty, it's a career for a sixty-year-old"
he stated.
The Minister of Construction and Transport also spoke in the program about how the government had to withstand "hard slaps" in recent years, because first the economic situation caused by the coronavirus epidemic and then the war hit the country, which was then hit by the "Novák- case" as well.
"Others would have been swept away by these problems individually, let alone taken together. It's a miracle we're still standing!"
he declared.
However, according to him, his political community even benefited from the emergence of Péter Magyar, because he pulls Fidesz together when there is competition.
