The end of the year is also closed with a donation by the Pro Filii Foundation, which this year also spent almost HUF 1 billion - of which more than HUF 250 million recently - for donations within the framework of tenders, announced the Communications Directorate of the Mészáros Group.
It was pointed out that the organization coordinating the charitable activities of the Mészáros Group submitted 656 applications with a total value of almost HUF 3.5 billion during the last quarter cycle of 2024. In the end, the foundation's board of trustees voted for funding contributions for 49 individuals and 28 non-profit organizations.
The Pro Filii Foundation tries throughout the year with its " noble mission of selfless support " to ensure that those in need for social or health reasons receive help as soon as possible. That is why this year, even before Christmas, a decision was made regarding the fate of the applications received for the last quarter.
Based on the recommendation of the evaluation committee, the board of trustees finally decided on grants of almost 122 million forints to 49 of the 220 private individuals, and 133 million to 28 of the 436 non-profit organizations.
Andrea Várkonyi, chairman of the board of trustees of the Pro Filii Foundation, was quoted in the announcement, who said: during the evaluation of the applications received for the last quarter cycle, they came across many touching stories, which is why they tried to help as many families and children as possible with the financial resources available to them.
They were able to support a total of 77 individuals and NGOs; among other things, the care of premature babies, emergency services, and children born with a developmental disorder, including a pair of twins suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, but also the immunotherapy of an adult struggling with a brain tumor. The foundation remains committed to not leaving those living in difficult situations alone and to encouraging community cooperation, stated the chairman of the foundation's board of trustees.
They also explained that thanks to the organization's significant financial contribution, the health condition of several babies who suffered a stroke at birth, an adult with ALS, a child with Bohring-Opitz syndrome, and a child with hypotonic muscles due to cerebellar ataxia could improve.
The Foundation for the Elderly and Demented Patients Living at Home can acquire medical aids for the treatment of pensioners and the disabled, and the Foundation for Visually Impaired Children can acquire reading machines used by the visually impaired. As in previous years, cultural, sports and value-creating applications also receive support.
Among other things, a talent development program for a 15-year-old autistic chess player, as well as a folk tradition preservation project helping the integration of disadvantaged young people, can be launched. But the donation amounts can speed up the complete rehabilitation of two elite athletes.
