Bejgli, mákosguba, rétesek and Somló dumplings will be the dessert at Szervánszky's on the holiday of love.
Szent Korona Cukrászda in Soltvadkert is one of the dominant representatives of the confectionary profession in Hungary. The Szervánszky family still runs this restaurant, where many people visit every year. I wonder how the famous confectioner's family celebrates? What cakes and Christmas delicacies are on your table at Christmas?
Judit Szervánszky, one of the company's managers, reports all this to the Baon.hu portal. As he said, on December 24, they celebrate with the children in a close family circle, waiting for Jesus. They put up two-meter artificial pine trees because, as an environmentalist, he does not want trees to be cut down for them. The decorations are selected in such a way that the burgundy and green colors will be dominant on the tree.
The dinner follows the traditional Hungarian cuisine. The Christmas menu for the children and her husband will be bagels, poppy seeds, fish soup, and roast duck, she said.
On December 26, the big family will gather at their place, they will spread the table for sixty people. In such cases, the cousins will also be there with their families, they rarely see them throughout the year, but now they spend the whole day together. Fried and stuffed cabbage will be on the menu.
As for the desserts: there will be no cake, but everyone in the family likes Somló dumplings and rétes. Judit Szervánszky told me that you can choose between curd, poppy, apple and cherry flavored métiers.
