Apparently they really apologized. Or not really.

The German news channel recently prepared and published a report on the renovation of the Buda Castle, in which, for example, the Márta V. Naszályi and Krisztián Ungváry spoke about how, in their opinion, the constructions have a bad social message, because the government in the Castle is the Horthy era, the It evokes the 1940s with the various constructions.

It's just a – presumably deliberate – professional mistake that the government representative was never asked about the renovation . But more than that, the entire video contained false claims and malicious parallels. Let's face it, they lied as hard as they could.

The film thoroughly blew the fuse at the Budavári Residents' Association. The association called on the DW editorial staff to correct the false claims. They also added that it is outrageous and outrageous that the public service media of a country that is largely responsible for the destruction publishes a report falsely portraying the reconstruction works of the Castle. The video report unfoundedly created the impression that the government is carrying out constructions in the Buda Castle with which it wants to restore the era of the Nazi occupation.

Well, as a result of the protest, Deutsche Welle has now posted a message next to the video, according to which its report caused concern in some viewers and may have seemed one-sided , for which it apologizes. They also mentioned that Nazi Germany could be held responsible for the murder of hundreds of thousands of Hungarian Jews.

Christoph Jumpelt , a spokesman for the German public media, stated that it was not their intention to misrepresent the historical context.

God, this is so touching! They didn't mean to? So why did they do it? Such an effect does not happen by accident, just like that, by itself. And the film could not only "appear" to be one-sided, but it was, and grossly so. Of course, you can "caress" this fact, but in hindsight, even removing the material from their site would not make up for what happened. Those who saw it probably already believe that they were presented with the reality.

The Association of Budavári Residents is not satisfied with the apology. They think the film should be cancelled.

And in our opinion, on the one hand, DW should communicate without "subtlety": our compilation paints a false picture of the renovation of the Buda Castle. On the other hand, they should counter the fake with a new video that really shows the reality.

That would amount to a real apology.
